Communiqué – NATIONAL LAND TRANSPORT AUTHORITY

Examinations Transport Arrangements (Final)

The NLTA wishes to inform the public that following its Communique issued on
18 March 2021 and views received from the public, special arrangements have been made in order to ensure that students sitting for the SC/HSC examinations are provided with transport facilities during the period 22 to 31 March 2021.

Buses proceeding from the Green to Red Zone and vice-versa will be allowed to carry ONLY students sitting for examinations. Students will have to produce their Timetable and/or Student Identity Card. Students are also encouraged to wear their uniforms. Students will, however, be allowed to be accompanied by one parent.

Invigilators will be allowed to enter buses proceeding from Green to Red Zones or vice-versa upon presentation of their appointment letter issued to them by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate while non-teaching staff will have to produce their Work Access Permit.

A sticker mentioning “Examination Bus” will be affixed on the windscreen of buses proceeding from the Green to Red Zone and vice-versa. These buses will be dedicated ONLY for the conveyance of students and invigilators/persons involved in the holding of the examinations. These buses will mention the destination of the bus on its Destination Indicator and will operate on their usual bus routes. These buses will be available at the following Bus Stations/Traffic Centres: –

  • Mahebourg Traffic Centre
  • Riviere du Poste Traffic Centre
  • L’Escalier Bus Terminus
  • Flacq Bus Station
  • Haute Rive Traffic Centre
  • Immigration Square
  • Victoria Square
  • St Pierre Traffic Centre
  • Quartier Militaire
  • Rose Hill (Place Margeot)
  • Quatre Bornes (Jules Koenig Traffic Center)
  • Baie Du Cap
  • Flic en Flac (Wolmar Bus Station)
  • Riviere des Galets
  • Chamouny Bus Station

Consultations have been held with bus operators with a view to arranging transport facilities for the students and they have agreed to provide their buses earlier in order to ensure that students reach their respective examinations centres on time.

Buses operating within the Green Zone (i.e., outside Constituencies 15,16,17 and Canot) will continue to provide skeleton service as per the
timetable applicable since 15 March 2021.

A Hotline (Number 8923), will be available at the Mauritius Examination Syndicate as from 07 00 hrs to 17 00 hrs everyday during the period of examination to allow members of the public to address any difficulty they might encounter.

In light of other examinations, the National Land Transport Authority may come up with adjustments to the present transport arrangements, if need be.

The NLTA relies on the usual cooperation of the public.
