Compared to period January to March 2020, passenger arrivals for period January to March 2021 decreased from 421,732 to 7,956. Passenger departures declined from 469,483 in the first quarter 2020 to 10,177 in the first quarter 2021.
Compared to first quarter of 2020, tourist arrivals during the first quarter of 2021 decreased from 304,842 to 2,772. The performance of our main markets for the period January to March 2021 was: France (531), India (335), Germany (86), Republic of South Africa (54), Reunion Island (46), United Kingdom (39) and Italy (38).
The average room occupancy rate for licensed hotels in operation for the first quarter of 2021 was 14%, very lower compared to 63% for the first quarter of 2020 while bed occupancy rate averaged 11% still lower compared to 54% in the corresponding period of 2020.
