PPI-M, which stood at 115.9 in September 2020, registered an increase of 0.6 point (+0.5%) during the fourth quarter of 2020 to reach 116.5 in December 2020. On a monthly basis, the PPI-M increased by 0.4 point (+0.3%) in October, remained unchanged at 116.3 in November and increased by 0.2 point (+0.2%) in December.
The average PPI-M for the fourth quarter of 2020 stood at 116.4, i.e. an increase of 0.9 point (+0.8%) from 115.5 in the third quarter of 2020. This increase was mainly attributable to higher prices of “Food products and beverages” (+0.9%), “Other transport equipment” (+4.4%), “Basic metals” (+5.8%) and “Other non-metallic mineral products” (+0.9%), partly offset by a decrease in the prices of “Chemicals and chemical products” (-0.1%). Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2019, the average PPI-M for the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by 6.1 points (+5.5%), mainly explained by higher prices of “Food products and beverages” (+6.0%).
