Veteran actor-director Lalit Behl dies of Covid complications at 71

Lalit Behl died of Covid-19 complications in Delhi’s Apollo Hospital on Friday (April 23). The actor-director is survived by son, Kanu Behl, and wife, Navnindra Behl.

Lalit Behl, a veteran actor-director, died of Covid-19 related complications in Delhi on Friday (April 23). He breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in the capital. Behl, 71, had Covid-19 for the last one week and his condition worsened because of his medical history. He had heart ailments. Several celebrities, who had worked with the late actor-director, posted condolences on social media.


Lalit Behl, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 last week, succumbed to the disease on Friday (April 23). He had a history of heart ailments. His son, director Kanu Behl, tol the news agency PTI, “He passed away in the afternoon. He had a history of heart ailments and had Covid, so it got complicated. He had an infection in his lungs which got severe and that, with the previous medical history he had, complicated his health further.”


After the news about Lalit Behl’s demise reached the Internet, several celebrities including his co-stars took to social media to post condolences. From Ranvir Shorey to Adil Hussain, celebs wrote that they are shattered by the news.

Ranvir Shorey tweeted, “Shattered to read this. So many memories. He was warm and affectionate and wise. Learnt so much from him. Heartfelt condolences to the family, @KanuBehl.”


Adil Hussain, who played Lalit Behl’s son in Mukti Bhawan, paid his condolences. “Extremely saddened by the demise of one of my dearest and most respected Co-actors, Lalit Behl jee. Who, so brilliantly played the father in @MuktiBhawan! I feel the loss of my father again! Dear Kanu I am so very sorry for your loss!” Adil wrote.
